Cornell SD board member wins American Red Cross Educator Hero Award
Karen Murphy of Coraopolis was awarded the American Red Cross Educator Hero Award on Sept. 20, 2012. Murphy has been an active volunteer for the Cornell SD for more than 25 years, 12 of which were spent as a board member and 10 of which were spent as president of the Cornell School District Booster Parents. In addition, she also helped with other projects around the school, including volunteering her time to measure and make alterations for high school athletes’ uniforms and being a key participant in the Central Blood Bank Scholarship Drive benefitting Cornell High School’s senior class. She donated platelets 22 times in 2011. As a board member, she also played a key role in helping the Cornell SD’s elementary school achieve Blue Ribbon status.

Mrs. Murphy has contributed many volunteer hours over the years for the Cornell School District. As the Board President, it is always great to know you have board members you can count on and have the needed experience to do the Distirct’s work. Contests Karen.
